Precious Pugs Rescue & Adoption was formed in January 1999. Our mission is to place lost, surrendered or abandoned pugs into loving, caring home. We are an all volunteer, not for profit organization dedicated to our pugs. PPRA will take any and all pugs regardless of age, health and/or temperament, and we've even been known to take pug mixes. Our pugs come from a variety of avenues including shelters, surrenders, and even found wandering down the streets. All pugs are placed in foster care with dedicated volunteers. Evaluation and veterinary care include: shots, spaying/neutering and treatment for any illnesses, if necessary. We've had many come through with heartworm treatment, hip problems, eye problems etc. Due to this, our adoption fee starts at $300 to help recover the never ending vet bills. Our "Senior Pugs" adoption fee is a "sliding scale fee", based on each individual rescue. (Donations are also accepted and greatly appreciated!!!) All applications to adopt a rescue pug are reviewed and evaluated.
After evaluation of the adoption application, you will be placed on PPRA's
waiting list. The waiting list is not first come, first serve. We
match pugs with potential adopters depending on their situation, what they are
looking for and the personality of the dog. We attempt to make the PERFECT
match for both the pug and the new adoptive family!
All applicants must
drive to pick up the pug they are adopting. We also assist many pug owners who need to surrender their precious pugs for various reasons. We will gladly send updates on the pug after placement, if requested by the original owner.
